Recently I decided to get a pressure cooker and see for myself just what was so great about this new kitchen appliance that everyone seems to be raving about. I must admit, I was a bit intimidated at first. There are quite a few brands of electric pressure cookers out there and everyone seems to have an opinion on which one is THE best one to get. Honestly, I really wanted an Instant Pot, but the store I went to was out-of-stock so I settled for the T-Fal 12 in 1 Programmable Electric Pressure Cooker. Now that I have given it a whirl with a few different recipes I am in LOVE with this pressure cooker. No buyer’s remorse whatsoever!!
I wanted to start off with an easy recipe so I decided on spaghetti. My whole family loves spaghetti and I figured you can’t really mess it up, right? The spaghetti turned out even better than I had imagined and start to finish the meal was done in under 20 minutes. After taking a few bites my daughter asked me what I had done differently. I cautiously asked why assuming I was getting big thumbs down from the family. She responded with “this is the best spaghetti you have ever made mom!” And with that, I was sold on the pressure cooker!
The best thing about this is that it truly is a quick and easy one-pot meal. Spaghetti is typically a very easy meal to make but it still requires one pan for the meat, a pot for the noodles, another pot for the sauce, and then a colander to drain. One pot and no colander needed!! I was actually really amazed at not needing a colander! Start off by browning your meat add the noodles, sauce, water, and spices and hit start! In 8 minutes you will have a delicious dinner your whole family will be coming back for seconds. Enjoy!!
Pressure Cooker Spaghetti
The easiest one-pot spaghetti recipe ever!
- 1 lb Lean Ground Beef or Ground Turkey
- 1 tsp each garlic powder, onion powder, italian seasoning More or less to your family's taste
- 8 oz Spaghetti Noodles
- 1 24 oz Jar of Spaghetti Sauce
- 1 14.5 oz Can of Diced Tomatoes
- 35 oz Water
Set your pressure cooker to "saute" or brown". Add the ground beef along with the garlic powder, onion powder, and Italian seasoning. Cook the meat until it is completely browned (about 5 minutes). If necessary drain any excess grease from meat.
Break the spaghetti in half and put it on top the ground beef. Try crisscrossing your noodles when adding to avoid any clumping that might occur.
Then pour in the spaghetti sauce, diced tomatoes, and water. I used the jar from the spaghetti sauce and filled it up 1.5 times with water. Be sure that the spaghetti noodles are completely submerged under the liquid.
Close and lock your pressure cooker. Set to manual mode, high pressure for 8 minutes. When the timer is done use the quick release valve to release the pressure. Stir well and Enjoy!!
The spaghetti may appear a bit watery right after cooking but will thicken up after stirring.
I used a 6 qt pressure cooker for this recipe.
